Terrific and unique book. I just recently purchased your book on Amazon. Looking forward to reading it as it looks very interesting. I can see how it will be helpful for patients/clients.

Warmly,

Julianne Martin, PsyD

Heidi’s book is amazing! I could relate to all of it going through the sudden death of my husband. I could relate to feeling hopeless but finding a way to get through my grief. Definitely a must read!

Tales of Awakening is a fascinating and heartfelt exploration of the journey of grief, loss, depression, rebirth, and finding the courage to move forward and live with purpose. Dr Heidi Michelle Taylor captures and explains the amazing and awe-inspiring collective unconscious of Carl Jung's psychology - we are not alone in our suffering, despite our feelings of isolation. This is a very important story of giving back and helping others.

The first thing they tell students studying psychology is not to psychoanalyze yourself, friends and relatives. But that's boring! This is the author's dissertation submitted to Pacifica Graduate Institute. It's very thorough in the area of clinical psychology. But this is a story of rebirth from the author's personal experience with the death of her fiancee from a drug overdose. There are additional interviews with people who suffered similar mood disorders. That's what makes this book so very readable. How can we help someone going through such agony? This is a subject worthy of study. I recommend this book for anyone dealing with grief. A better title might have been "Chaos Of The Soul." Read the book to understand why...

I am glad the people detailed in this book were able to ascend back into the upper world, to find their way back into the living.

It is inevitable that there will be ups and downs in in life, and that sometimes that down could be so low into the underworld, one forgets the existence of the upper world. As it is inevitable to descend, it is also inevitable to ascend. The nature of life is cyclonic. Good times and bad times, night and day, good and evil, etc., its concept of duality is reflected in everyday living, and especially in our mythological stories, which details solutions to dealing with hitting rock bottom, and how to persevere from it. Being in the underworld could be temporary or it could last to near eternity - until the cycle of ascendence begins. Once they realize they are at the the very bottom, they begin taking steps to ascend (by doing it themselves and/or seeking help from others).

Without having descended and ascending, without having to deal with real world problems, one cannot say they have lived a meaningful life. Mythological stories are abound with protagonists who have overcome their ordeals - and they have become stronger and wiser because of it.

It is inevitable that will be problems down the road of life. It's how we deal with them that defines our existence. "Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall." - Confucius.

A great read. It’s as if this book was written by someone who understands my journey and what I went through because the author has experienced some of the same things but she also has her own unique story. The tips included at the end of the book are very helpful for those going through the healing process or for those who want to start the process.

I couldn’t put this book down. The gifted writer depicted., her own story from darkness into light, and actually this was her dissertation for her PhD in psychology. She had the insight to combine real life up-and-down, comparing it brilliantly to Greek mythology.. it was a fascinating read, and on every page, I could relate to what the writer was experiencing.
